Welcome to My Online Studio
I am a Southwestern artist whose art is heavily influenced by my background. Most of my childhood was spent in the ranching and farming areas of rural Southeast Arizona. We lived out in the country, far past the end of the pavement. Watching for snakes, and living with nature was our ordinary way of life.
The incredibly beautiful landscapes surrounding us made such an impression on me that I have been trying ever since to record them to share with others. Most of
my landscape paintings are done in oil paints. The animals I saw as a child, like coyotes, eagles, Sandhill cranes, and lizards, also make their way into my paintings.
These creatures also make their way into my
layered paper pictures. In a more fanciful way, these pictures pay tribute to the rich variety of life and experience in the southwest. Most of the geometric designs and patterns I use are based on ancient designs from northern Europe. Many of the places I paint can still be visited and appreciated, but other places are lost--some are lost through time, some through development, and some are lost because public access has been denied. Nevertheless, I paint with hope because as more people come to love these places, more of them are preserved and loved.
